  1. According to the Nilson report, credit card spending at U.S gas stations rose 12% from 2007 to 2008. Consumers spent $246.28 billion dollars on their cards in 2008 an increase of 26.91 billion. PIN based debit cards saw the largest percentage increase with spending growing 21.9% to 31.75 billion dollars an increase of over $7 billion. Commercial fleet spending on cards issued by third party specialists grew by 8% to $33.69 billion. (a.)
