The "Royalty Relief" method is based on the hypothetical notion that a brand holding company owns the brand and licenses it to an operating company. The notional price paid by the operating company to the brand company is expressed as a royalty rate. A Brand Rating (AAA+, AA, etc) quantifies the strength and performance of the brand being valued, and rovides an indication of the risk attached to future earnings of the brand.
