- According to the IFPI there were 13 million tracks licensed by record companies to digital music services in 2010. (a).
- $4.6 billion (U.S.) was the trade value of the digital music market worldwide in 2010 and there was a 6% growth of global digital music revenues. Digital channels now account for an estimated 29 per cent of overall recorded music revenues, up from 25 per cent in 2009. (a).
- The proportion of record companies’ global revenues from digital channels was 29% for the year 2010. (a).
- The increase in the value of the digital music market between the years 2004 to 2010 was over 1000% while at the same time the decline in the value of the global recorded music industry (cds, tapes, albums etc) was 31%. Digital album sales increased more sharply than singles in 2010, and accounted for 17.5 per cent of all album sales in the UK and 26.5 per cent in the US. (a).
- The IFPI estimates that the cumulative lost retail revenues to the European creative industries from piracy 2008–2015 will be 240 billion euros. (a).
