- In 2005, 70 women obtained abortions in Wyoming, producing a rate of 0.7 abortions per 1,000 women of reproductive age. Some of these women were from other states, and some Wyoming residents had abortions in other states, so this rate may not reflect the abortion rate of state residents. The rate declined 28% since 2000, when it was 1.0 abortions per 1,000 women between the ages of 15-44.
- In 2005, there were 2 abortion providers in Wyoming. This represents a 33% decrease from 2000, when there were 3 abortion providers. 96 percent of Wyoming counties have no abortion provider. (a.)
- In 2005, 1.2 million American women obtained abortions, producing a rate of 19.4 abortions per 1,000 women of reproductive age. The rate declined 9% from 2000, when the abortion rate was 21.3 abortions per 1,000 women 15-44. (a.)
- Abortion rates are lowest in largely rural states: Wyoming, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Dakota, Idaho and Utah. (a.)
- In Wyoming, 8,800 of the 101,594 women of reproductive age became pregnant in 2005. 83% of these pregnancies resulted in live births and 1% in induced abortions. (a.)
