List Notes: Data is top 5 most valuable football (soccer) clubs in the world ranked according to brand value. All brand values displayed in the list are as of the 21st of May 2013 and are displayed in U.S. dollars. Percent change is from the year 2012. The Brand Finance
Football Brands 2012 report was compiled using, where
available, publicly available information regarding
market share, market growth and company
financials. The main sources of publicly available
data were the Deloitte Football Money League
Report, Bloomberg, individual football club Annual
Reports and press releases. Brand value was
derived using a "relief from royalty" method that
values brands according to the cost of re-licensing
them from a hypothetical third party. Brand Ratings are calculated using Brand Finance's Brand
Strength Index analysis, which benchmarks the
strength, risk and future potential of a brand relative
to its competitors on a scale ranging from AAA+ to D.
It is conceptually similar to a credit rating.
The data used to calculate the ratings comes from
various sources including Bloomberg, annual reports
and Brand Finance research.
