"Global Terrorism Index 2015"
List Notes: Data is the top 5 countries that are affected by terrorism the most. Data is for the year 2014. Deaths and injuries are those caused by a terrorist attack. Percentage of total is the percentage of all terrorism related deaths in 2014. The global terrorism index measures changing patterns of terrorism by geographic activity, methods of attack, the organizations involved and the national economic and political context. There are four factors measured in each country's yearly score: the total number of terrorist incidents in a given year in a given country, the total number of fatalities caused by terrorism in a given year in a given country, the total number of injuries caused by terrorism in a given year in a given country and the approximate level of total property damage from terrorist incidents in a given year in a given country. Terrorism is defined as the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives."
